Book launch: Toward and Integrated Science of Wellbeing
How do we define, understand and cultivate wellbeing? These ideas are discussed in the first of its kind scientific book,‘Toward an Integrated Science of Wellbeing’.
Coedited by Elizabeth Rieger, Robert Costanza, Ida Kubiszewski, and Paul Dugdale, the book brings a multidimensional approach to wellbeing. It considers and explains the interplay between the four dimensions of wellbeing – the psychological, physical, sociocultural, and environmental - and considers how each of these aspects can work together to support human wellbeing in a sustainable way.
On Tuesday, 6 June the book was launch by the ANU Chancellor, The Hon Julie Bishop at an event that included presentations from each of the editors and a special presentation by author chapter Professor Bruce Christensen about wellbeing in higher education.
The book is a strong demonstration of the innovative ideas that can develop when taking a transdisciplinary approach to health - a key driver for our School of Medicine and Psychology.
