Become a volunteer
Within a simulated learning environment, volunteers act as live physical models for small groups of first and second year students who are learning physical examination skills.
Guided by a qualified medical practitioner, students may listen to your heart and lungs, examine your abdomen, shoulder or knee.
You don’t need any particular skills to be a volunteer other than a willingness to be examined. You do need to be generally healthy and mobile, however having a managed health problem does not generally exclude you from volunteering.
Before participating, volunteers attend orientation activities and sign a consent form. The volunteer commitment is very flexible with teaching sessions and opportunities to participate running across the year.
Clinical Skills teaching takes place at The Medical School’s Canberra Hospital Campus.
