Bachelor of Health Science
The Bachelor of Health Science is a distinctive science degree which will position you as a future leader in tackling health problems of national and global significance. It draws upon the world-leading strengths of ANU in medical education, biomedical science, population health, psychology, social science and public policy to prepare you for a future in medical professions.
The Bachelor of Health Science offers a pathway to the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) at ANU without having to sit the GAMSAT. Up to 30 students will receive an offer of entry to the MChD, contingent upon their grade point average (GPA), an interview process and successful completion of the Bachelor of Health Science program. Up to 10 of the 30 places are reserved for rural and Indigenous students.
Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours)
The Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) or PhB is a unique program that allows intellectually ambitious students to explore their interests, develop research skills and benefit from one-on-one mentoring with leading academics.
Completing the PhB in a science-related discipline offers an excellent pathway to the postgraduate Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) at ANU without having to sit the GAMSAT. Students must indicate their interest to undertake the PhB/MChD pathway to the PhB coordinator. Entry into the MChD is contingent upon meeting the academic criteria and an interview process.
To be eligible for this pathway, students must be enrolled in the Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) – Science offered by the ANU College of Health and Medicine and ANU College of Science.
The Tuckwell Scholarship to Medicine Pathway (Tuckwell-MChD pathway) is limited to successful applicants at the Tuckwell Stage 3 selection interviews. Students are required to have declared upfront an interest in studying medicine in all 3 stages of the Tuckwell application process and completion of an undergraduate degree at the ANU is mandatory prior to commencing the MChD. Scholars in the Tuckwell-MChD pathway are not required to apply through GEMSAS, sit the GAMSAT or undertake an additional interview prior to entering the MChD program.
