Dr Soo Ming Phang graduated from the University of Manchester, UK in 2002, and completed basic surgical training in the UK.

He finished emergency training at the Hunter New England Health District in NSW and qualified as a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) in 2015. In 2016 he started working as a Staff Specialist at Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department.
