Dr Saurabh Gupta is an Interventional Gastroenterologist, specialising in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures with a special interest in pancreatic and biliary disease including therapeutic EUS and ERCP, as well as endoscopic resection of advanced neoplasia, obesity endotherapy and assessment of small bowel disorders. He is strongly committed to teaching and training for advanced endoscopy, and passionate about optimising patient outcomes using minimally invasive techniques.

Dr Gupta graduated with Honours from UNSW. After his FRACP, Dr Gupta completed Advanced Endoscopy Fellowships in Brisbane and at Duke University, North Carolina USA.

In 2018, Dr Gupta convened the Inaugural Bariatric and Metabolic Endoscopy Symposium at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, and continues to further study endoscopic options for patients suffering from overweight and obesity.

Dr Gupta is a member of the EUS taskforce Asia-Pacific. He was past Chairperson of the EUS Special Interest Group and is the inaugural Chairperson for the Bariatric Special Interest Group with the GE Society of Australia.

Research interests

Dr Gupta is involved in teaching and research in optimising EUS guided fine needle aspirate (FNA) and biopsy (FNB), as well as early detection of metastatic pancreatic cancer. In addition to this, Dr Gupta is examining outcomes of endoscopic management of patients with bariatric surgical complications.
