Alzheimer's Australia Memory Walk & Jog 2017

Alzheimer's Australia ACT is holding their fifth annual Memory Walk & Jog

...as part of their month-long campaign for Dementia Awareness Month. This fun, family event raises much needed funds for over 4500 people living with dementia in the ACT and the people that support them.

All funds raised assist Alzheimer's Australia ACT to provide vital services such as counselling, social support groups and education to help family carers, people with dementia and health professionals across our region. These services reduce feelings of isolation and empower people with dementia and their carers to live with dignity, meaning and purpose.

Help support Jonathon Gardner as he makes effort to raise $3000 for Alzheimer's Australia ACT.

"Last year, I ran the 7km distance with some friends and raised just under $2500, the highest individual fundraising effort for the event in the ACT. This year, my goal is to raise over $3000 to further support families in the ACT dealing with a dementia diagnosis."

"This is the 2nd year I will be looking to get students at the ANU Medical School involved in this event. My long-term goal is running a speakers evening for the Medical School during Dementia Awareness Month to further raise awareness on dealing with patients with dementia - something that will become increasingly significant in medical practice with our ageing population and short-comings in medical advances."
