PBL Tutor Arrangements

PBL sessions for Block 1 are;

Session 1: Friday 12.30 to 2.00pm
Session 2: Tuesday 11.30 to 1.00pm
Session 3: Fridays 11.00 to 12.30pm

Each PBL tutor will receive information about tutor orientation, tutorial arrangements, contracts and payment (if eligible for payment) and tutorial group. Some tips and tricks for PBL tutors are included here as an aide memoire. Remember to bring along a copy of the tutor guide and patient data sheet. If you forget, come to the MEU for a copy!

Student swipe cards open each PBL room. Each PBL room is fitted with two PCs (one marked as connected to the data projector). The screen for projection is near the door. A set of standard reference texts is available in each room. Press the remote control “on” button to turn on the data projector. Turn the PC on at the table top box. Log on to http://medonline.anu.edu.au/ . Remember to display the student view not the staff view. When a tutorial guide tells you to show something like a document, just project the item onto the screen. We are not printing out handouts. Remember to turn off both the PC and the projector at the end of each session.

Remember mentors are available to assist in the development of PBL tutoring skills and the MEU is always happy to talk through any difficulties. If you would like to contact a tutor mentor contact Gerry Corrigan on T: 6125 5022.

Students are asked to evaluate the teaching program including PBL. Feedback will be supplied to tutors during and at the end of the block. Please remember to remind your group to complete the online evaluation format the end of each problem as this forms a central part of our evaluation.
