Dr Ronak Patel is a Consultant Neurologist at Calvary Public Hospital, Bruce and a Clinical Lecturer at Australian National University (ANU). Besides General Neurology, his main interest is in Stroke particularly around advanced stroke imaging. He completed his Neurology training from John Hunter Hospital and The Canberra Hospital and then pursued Stroke fellowship from Calvary Public Hospital where he has been appointed as a Consultant Neurologist.
Since joining Calvary Public Hospital in 2016, Dr Patel has been instrumental in advancing stroke research at Calvary Public Hospital where he is involved in number of clinical stroke trials both as a principal and co-investigator. He currently chairs Calvary stroke research group and has received research grants. He has presented his research work at national and international conferences, winning him awards; latest being Inspirational Stroke Research Award at the Australasian Stroke Academy, 2017.
Dr Patel is actively involved in clinical governance and has done stroke quality, health and safety projects and has designed a prehospital stroke screening tool (CRESST) for stroke pre-notification which is presently being trialled at Calvary Public Hospital. He is equally passionate about teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate.
