Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher announced the ACT Government will fund a $50,000 per annum scholarship in honour of Aboriginal health service Medical Director, Dr Peter Sharp.
Throughout his life Dr Sharp made a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community, most particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local region. In 2009 he was awarded the Australian Medical Association Excellence in Health Care Award. Last year he became a Member of the Order of Australia.
The scholarship will support students enrolled in the Indigenous health stream at the ANU Medical School.
