The ANU Medical School has celebrated the achievements of Professor Nicholas Glasgow in leading the ANU Medical School as Dean since 2008.
Professor Kiaran Kirk, Dean of the ANU College of Medicine, Biology & Environment, said Professor Glasgow has made an enormous contribution to the University and the Canberra medical community.
“Under Professor Glasgow’s leadership, the ANU Medical School has grown and prospered.”
“He has made major contribution to the scholarship of teaching and learning, particularly in competency-based medical education, and has served at senior levels both within the University, including as Chair of the ANU Academic Board.”
Professor Glasgow has also held key roles within ACT Health and has made a significant contribution to the medical community as President of Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand.
Professor Glasgow’s research interests include respiratory health, health systems research, and palliative medicine.
“I am very pleased that he will continue to be a member of the ANU community as Emeritus Professor,” Professor Kirk said.
Professor Imogen Mitchell, who has been Acting Dean of the ANU Medical School since August this year, has been appointed Dean of the ANU Medical School for a period of two years.
“Professor Mitchell brings enormous energy and vitality to the role,” Professor Kirk said.
“With a background as an intensive care specialist, she is committed to improving medical delivery and education and to making a difference to practice through research and teaching that benefit patients, students and colleagues.”
