Increased Interest in Indigenous Health Stream

Friday 27 June 2014

The Medical School's Rural Clinical School welcomed seven Year 1 students to the Indigenous Health stream. Part of the application process for this stream includes writing a 1500 word essay outlining interest and commitment to Indigenous health. On the basis of their essay the students were then invited to attend an intensive immersion morning at Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health Service in the ACT. The high standard of the students applying is reflected in the fact that all students who applied were accepted into this Stream in 2014.

This is the fifth year the Indigenous Health Stream has been offered to students entering Year 1 and over the past 4 years, they have undertaken a variety of activities within the ACT, as well as in rural locations by students who are also on rural placements.
