Year 2 Medical School students at Rural Week in Cooma experienced the best of what the Eurobodalla, Monaro and the Snowy region has to offer.
Highlights of the week included a Civic reception hosted by the Cooma-Monaro Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Bronnie Taylor, and Councillors with local Member for Monaro Peter Hendy also in attendance. In the evening all attended a Passions Dinner hosted by the ANU and Medicare Local.
Cooma-Monaro Emergency Operations Centre with the local SES and Cooma Town Fire Brigade presented a rescue hypothetical.
Community dinners hosted by the Rotary Club Bateman's Bay were enjoyed by Medical School students spending Year 2 Rural Week in the Eurobodalla region. Some of the group had the opportunity to spend time with the GPs at Katungul Aboriginal Health Service and the local health service also ran plaster workshops.
Cancer survivor groups provided students with insight into the cancer journey, including some of the challenges when the patient lives some distance from a major city at the Batemans Bay Anglican Church Hall. They also provided a wonderful morning tea.
