Congratulations to the class of 2012 admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the ANU graduation ceremony held on 13 December.
Alicia Heald and Budhima Nanayakkara graduated with Honours and received a University Medal in Medicine and Surgery.
Associate Professor Drew Richardson received the degree of Doctor of Medicine. Dr Richardson is a senior emergency physician who has made a major contribution to the development of his specialist field of emergency department patient flows, particularly overcrowding and access block, and to furthering research related to these fields. He is one of a small band of academic leaders in this relatively new sub-speciality in medicine and has firmly established ANU Medical School and its affiliated hospitals as a place to train and carry out research in this discipline. Dr Richardson's contribution to research in emergency medicine and the advancement of care for those waiting in emergency departments across the world is very significant. It will inform service development in this field now and in the future.
Congratulations to graduates admitted to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy: Claire O'Brien, Arjuna Pathmaperuma and Derrick Van Rooyen, and also to all the Master of Public Health graduates.
