Canberra Health Annual Research Meeting

Registrations are now open via ACT Health.

The Canberra Health Annual Research Meeting (CHARM) will be held in the Canberra Hospital Auditorium from Tuesday, August 11th to Friday, August 14th 2015. This cross institutional meeting is held each year as a joint venture between ACT Health, The Australian National University Medical School, John Curtin School of Medical Research, Australian Catholic University, The University of Canberra, The Australian Institute of Sport, University of New South Wales Canberra, Sports Medicine Australia and is hosted by the ACT Health Research Office. CHARM is a major event for the institutions involved with presentations from high profile keynote speakers on hot topics in medical research. The aim of CHARM is to showcase the wide range of health research in the Canberra region. Speakers Laureate Prof Colin Masters 12 pm Tuesday 11 August The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, The University of Melbourne. Topic: New technologies to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease before cognitive impairment occurs. Prof Katherine Samaras 12 pm Wednesday 12 August Head of Diabetes and Obesity Clinical Group, Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Topic: Trimming the fat on Australia’s obesity epidemic. Prof Mark Hutchinson 12 pm Thursday 13 August ARC Australian Research Fellow, Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale BioPhotonics. Topic: Why do you know you are sick? From chronic pain to drug addiction. Prof Ingrid Scheffer OA 12 pm Friday 14 August 2015 Prime Minister’s Prize for Science, Director of Paediatrics, Austin Health. Topic: Novel Epilepsy Syndromes.
