Admission - Transfer Into The ANU Medical School

ANU Medical School Transfer Policy

International and domestic students may only request a transfer into the ANU Medical School if they are currently enrolled in a medical degree either in Australia or overseas.

The request for a transfer will only be considered where exceptional personal circumstances mean that continuation of study at the medical school in which the student is currently enrolled is extremely difficult.

Transfers will be considered on a discretionary basis and will be contingent upon the reasons for transfer, academic history, nature of the curriculum in the school in which the applicant has been studying and number of available places.

ANU Medical School does not accept mid-year transfers.

International Transfer Applicants

As ANU Medical School is a graduate level entry medical school, international transfer applicants must demonstrate that they:

  • have a Bachelor degree (in any field or discipline)
  • have sat and passed the GAMSAT, MCAT or an equivalent test which was conducted in English
  • were interviewed for admission to the medical school in which they are currently enrolled
  • have met the English language requirements as set out for graduate entry on the ANU International Student Website at:http://info.anu.edu.au/studyat/International_Office/getting_in/_englishreqmts.asp

If these requirements are satisfied, then the student may begin the process to apply for transfer.

A formal letter addressed to the Dean of ANU Medical School outlining the reasons for transfer, a completed Application Form for International Transfer, and all the relevant documentation should be posted or emailed to the ANU Medical School:

By post:                                                        By email:
