Essential Information for All Applicants

Proof of Completion of Degree

Students who have been offered a place contingent upon the completion of their degree, must bring an official transcript as proof of completion of degree to enrolment, which is typically day one of Orientation Week. The official transcript must state that the student has completed, qualified, been awarded or met all the requirements of their degree. This transcript will remain on the student's official file. Where a transcript is not yet ready, a statement from the Registrar of the awarding university must be provided forenrolment, until such time as the official transcript can be supplied. If transcripts are not furnished, students will be un-enrolled immediately prior to census date.

Police checks

Prospective students are advised that police checks will be required prior to enrolment. Domestic and International applicants must apply for a police check with the Australian Federal Police. For Australian citizens or permanent residents, New Zealand citizens and International applicants domiciled overseas for 5 years or longer prior to application, a police check must ALSO be provided from the countries in which they have resided and/or studied during that time. The costs of a police check are the student's responsibility.

Applicants must read the Criminal History Check Policy on this website.
It is essential to write "MEDICAL STUDENT" on the PART-EXCLUSION name check form, under section "(iv) specify position eg. (SES, ASO etc)". Do not write "student", otherwise the form may not be processed by the police. Under "(iii) consent to", write "ANU MEDICAL SCHOOL".

First Aid Certificate

Successful applicants must have completed and hold a current approved First Aid Certificate prior to commencement of study. A one day course in First Aid is sufficient as long as it is with an approved organisation eg St John's Ambulance. Evidence of this certificate must be presented on the first day of the program. No exceptions will be made to this requirement for entry. The cost of a First Aid course is the student’s responsibility.

Infectious Diseases Policy

Prospective students are advised to check the Medical School’s policy entitled 'Guidelines for Infectious Disease and Immunisation Polices for Medical Students’. Students will be required to establish their immune or infectious status prior to enrolment. The costs involved in meeting these requirements are the student’s responsibility.
