Transfer Out of The ANU Medical SchoolStudents may only request a transfer OUT of the ANU Medical School where exceptional personal circumstances mean that continuation of study at the medical school in which the student is currently enrolled is extremely difficult.
Students seeking transfer should contact the prospective medical school to seek their acceptance. Typically this should be no later than end of July.
Bonded students must take their places with them.
The procedure for application for transfer follows:
1. The student will alert their Student Year Coordinator to the issues surrounding their request for transfer.
2. The student will write to the Associate Dean (Admissions) ANU medical School, seeking support for transfer out and provide her/his reason(s) for the request. The Associate Dean (Admissions) may request to meet with the student to discuss the request.
3. The Associate Dean (Admissions) will provide a report on the request to the Dean of the ANU Medical School. The Dean may ask to meet with the student and will consider the matter then correspond with the Dean of the prospective medical school and the student regarding the transfer request.
4. The student must approach the Dean of the prospective Medical School by way of formal letter requesting transfer, and fulfill any additional requirements of the prospective medical school. These may include a letter outlining reasons for the transfer request, and the type of place they hold (CSP, MRBS or BMP). Additionally, GAMSAT results, the academic transcript for the prior Bachelors degree, and any academic results (transcripts) for participation in the ANU MBBS program to date may be required. Please check with the prospective medical school for details.
5. The decision to accept the request to transfer rests with the prospective medical school.
6. If the application to transfer to the new medical school is successful, the student must fill out and submit an ANU Program Leave and Withdrawal forms prior to departure, so that program Withdrawal (NOT Fail) is recorded on their official ANU academic transcript.
Program withdrawal forms and letters addressed to the Dean of ANU Medical School must be posted or emailed to the ANU Medical School:
