Admission for International Applicants
|
Up to 20 places will be set aside annually for admission of International applicants i.e. applicants who are not Australian or New Zealand citizens or Australian permanent residents. Students will be required to pay the full cost of their medical training. A recent fee schedule can be found at http://fees.anu.edu.au/ISF/index.asp.
International applicants must take either the GAMSAT or the US Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). For the purposes of admission to graduate-entry medicine in Australia, MCAT scores are valid for two years. eg. MCAT scores that will be accepted by Australian medical schools for 2010 entry are from the test period August 2007 to May 2009 inclusive. A minimum score of 8/8/8/M is required for those taking the MCAT. However, prospective students will be required to meet ANU requirements for English Language Tests if the language of instruction for their Bachelor degree was not English. Course credit will not be given for previous study. |

International Students and Residency Status
1. Residency status at time of application will determine whether an applicant is treated as a domestic or international applicant. Any applicant expecting to become a permanent resident between the time of application and enrolment the following February should advise the Admissions Officer at the time of interview.
2. When a change in residency status occurs after the student has commenced study, the student will need to visit the University Fees Office and provide proof of change from temporary to permanent residency before the census date for the forthcoming semester (31 March for semester 1 and 31 August for semester 2), in order for the fees invoice to be converted from an international full fee-paying place to a Commonwealth Supported HECS place for that, and subsequent, semesters.
