Professor Nicholas Glasgow,
Dean, ANU Medical School. |
Governance Structure
The management of the Medical School is typical of an ANU
faculty, whereby the Dean is responsible for the academic
program, human resources management, and the finances of the
school. The Dean answers directly to the Vice-Chancellor.
The overall operation and management of the Medical School
is governed by the following bodies:
ACTion Committee (Assessment, Curriculum and Teaching Committee)
Medical School Advisory Board (chaired by the Vice Chancellor)
Faculty of Medicine (chaired by the Dean)
Faculty Executive Committee (chaired by the Dean, the
Standing Committee of the Faculty)
Professional Behaviour Committee
To assist with specific matters, the Medical School has also
established other committees:
Rural Committee (for rural medical teaching)
Indigenous Affairs Committee (for Indigenous Health curriculum
development and delivery)
Student Affairs Committee (a forum for students to interact with school management)
Medical School Advisory Board
The Medical School, unlike most other faculties at ANU, has
an Advisory Board. The terms of reference of the Medical School
Advisory Board are:
- Provide high level advice on strategic directions and
significant policy initiatives;
- Facilitate communication with key stakeholders in education
and the health sector with whom the Medical School has relationships.
- To actively seek to broaden these relationships; and
